(WILSONVILLE, Ore.) - Oregon State Police troopers, with the assistance of the interagency Clackamas County area crash investigation team, are investigating into Wednesday morning's fatal traffic crash that occurred south of Wilsonville on Interstate 5.

According to OSP Lieutenant Jason Bledsoe, this morning at approximately 5:15 a.m. a group of vehicles were northbound on Interstate 5 approaching milepost 282 in the area of a highway work zone where signs were displayed indicating an upcoming lane restriction.

"One of the vehicles, a Lexus four-door passenger car driven by the victim, began to slow and attempted to move to the right when it struck the side of a flatbed semi-trailer pulled by a commercial truck," Bledsoe said.

"After impact the Lexus continued back to the left where it traveled northbound into the center median. It continued through a tall grassy section and went off an estimated 25-foot drop where it landed on its top on the Canby/Hubbard Highway."

He says the female driver, 53-year old Linda Marie Trethewy, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigators are being assisted by the Clackamas County District Attorney's Office, Clackamas County Medical Examiner, ODOT and Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue.

The southbound Canby/Hubbard Highway exit from Interstate 5 was re-opened about 10:30 a.m. while one northbound lane remained closed.
