(UPDATE) Salem-News.com Needs Financial Help

It is a somewhat desperate situation; please help our operation survive.

Tim, Austin and Bonnie King of Salem-News.com
Tim and Austin King of Salem-News.com

(SALEM) - I have added the image to the right from Google Earth of our humble home to show our supporters who it is they are helping, and also to show that while we are financially challenged, we're the kings of ingenuity in context with today's technology.

Austin King actually received a tip that the funny looking vehicle was on our street, he was able to get our company sign out in time for the Google Earth car as it drove by with its multiple cameras snapping away.

They tend to scrub people out of their pictures, but Salem-News.com has this habit of showing up when least expected.

In this hard time, we have received several messages of support; several are shown below in the story comments, while others were sent via email. Some of the messages we have received are so wonderful, it means to much to us.

Here are a few that have arrived since we announced to the world that we were in this compromised position:

"Hi, I am going to start contributing (modestly) in the near future, but I must first make some arrangements. I admire you guys very much!"

"I wish I could donate more - I live on fixed income of SSI, $694.00 per month. I will donate more when I can. I am sorry you are going through the stress of losing an advertiser. Hope it isn't due to you both standing up for victims all over the world."

"Its really disheartening to know your current status. I have taken this with my friends residing in USA and would like to help as much as possible. I am hopeful the current situation improves quickly and you are out of it. We are always with you, shouldering your concerns."

"I do so wish I could be of some financial support to you and Bonnie and your very worthwhile mission. XXXX and I exist on a moderately modest fixed retirement income, and any surplus we manage to generate goes you-know-where. I will however replicate your appeal to my distribution list, and hopefully it may turn up some support."

"I would totally give you money if I was able too right now Tim. I hope people come thru. You deserve help."

The is the next frame, Austin King and the sign have been
removed by Google Earth, easy come easy go.

The original message is below and it is unchanged. An advertiser who we counted on, dropped out and left us in quite a fix. We need time to replace that revenue and the help of our readers is extremely valuable to us at this hard time.

We have received help from a number of parties, but we are still striving to exist; so far we have raised just a little over $600 and we aren't where we need to be. We are thrilled and appreciative beyond words for the generosity e have seen. It reinforces our belief in what we are doing. If we can get out of this slump it will be really helpful.

Running Salem-News.com is an effort in itself every day, but worrying about the worst possible outcome of financial disparity is not something I want to have to consider.

We work hard every day with no exceptions to publish news that helps and in some cases, even has the potential to save people. The amount of extremely important news that goes unpublished every day in the U.S. by the mainstream press and broadcast outlets is staggering, particularly to any journalist who really explores the subject while building inroads with contacts in the affected areas.

So again, for all of the people who have assumed that because we own Salem-News.com, we are wealthy, here is a real look at our surroundings, it isn't much but it is home and we really appreciate the help we have received.

If you have ever considered helping Salem-News.com, this is a good time. We have been online for eight years, our news is steadily growing on a world scale and we compete with the biggest news agencies, but we lead very meager and humble lives on scant ad revenue. We had an advertiser pull their business this week and it could not have come at a worse time, leaving us in a fairly perilous situation.

We work endlessly to provide the human rights based news that others fail to deliver, it is an amazing and succinct operation that has been online steadily since 2004. But we really need financial assistance or we will be facing a very bleak picture.

So, if you can help then please send what you can via the PayPal icon at the top right side of Salem-News.com. Our immediate need is for slightly more than $1500, we can not emphasize how important it is that we reach this goal immediately. If you want to send money or a check then please just write to:

Tim/Bonnett--wish I could help but have given all my dicretionary funds to Governor Romney and George the Hispanic Zimmerman. All I have left will be going to Sen. John Kerry to help offset his moorage and tax bill for his multi-million dollar yacht. Poor guy, he really gets screwed by the tax people. Well, maybe next week I'll have some more money, and after getting a new windshield for my Gulfstream V, I'll see what I can do. In the meantime, keep the faith...maybe soon you'll be in some tall cotten.

Tim King: Bonnett... is that really the best you can do? Boy you sure got us.

Paul Balles August 9, 2012 3:37 pm (Pacific time)

Hi Tim,

I just now read the comments about your financial problem and wish I could provide some useful help. Unfortunately, as a semi-retiree, I live on a limited income, and have had some unhelpful medical expenses as well. I will, however, make a plea to people on my list who are better off, especially those who have enjoyed the articles in Salem-News and hope they will help. Best, Paul

Tim King: Thanks so much Paul, everything about us is wrapped up in this and we appreciate the thoughts and spreading of awareness, many thanks!

Could you please give us an update regarding if you met your goal?

Bonnie: No, we have not met our goal. We still need over $1000, and to build income so this is not a recurring problem. We can't express our gratitude enough for the support we have received from all of you, it has helped immensely. Please continue to send prospective advertisers,  sponsors, investors, and new readers in our direction, it means the world to us! Thank you for your prayers, your passion, your faith, and your belief in our ability to make a difference for the better. We can do it, with you alongside us.

I guess I didn't see your link to contribute until after I wrote my last comment. I will share the link and ask for advertisers...

Toni August 6, 2012 9:41 pm (Pacific time)

I will post on the Facebook sites I belong to Tim. Have you heard of ChipIn? It is a great service and provides a convenient link for people to contribute. Sad to say many people won't take the time to send a check in the mail. If you decide to try ChipIn let me know and I will blast that around for you. I will also ask for people who would like to advertise. When I get back from PaulFest and the RNC convention at the End of August I will see what I can send you in the way of $$$.

Tim King: Thank you Toni, that is so kind and I don't know about ChipIn and will take a look at it right away.  Thank you for your thoughts and I hope you write about the PaulFest, thank you!

Tim King:  This has been a humbling experience, thanks for your kind words.

As a deep spiritual person, I also made the decision to live meek. All I can give you at this time are my prayers that keep you strong, that you will grow in wisdom as you share world events, and last but not least, a scripture, that may not be overall pertinent to this subject, but its the best I could find :-)
Acts 3:6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.

Tim King: Thanks so much.

I second the sentiments shared by Josh, Amanda, Jamal, et al.

Tim, you and your people are doing good things. We are getting by with less than 1/5th what we were making five years ago. I would love to help and if I were able to, I would offer a partnership with hard cash.

It is hard going from a solid six-figure income to a fraction of it, and my spouse would probably leave if I took food out of the mouths of the kids in order to give you guys the support I feel you guys deserve.

Tim King: We only want people to help if it is comfortable for them, thank you.

Amandablack August 5, 2012 1:27 am (Pacific time)

I hope you will survive. Whenever things look the bleakest for me, I gain strength to keep on fighting for my rights. Keep on reporting the news, we seldom see elsewhere. My heart is with you.

Tim King: Thank you so much, we will hold onto those  values and we appreciate your kind heart!

chris p August 4, 2012 5:58 pm (Pacific time)

I am aware of your situtation...doing what I can now.

Tim King: Chris, we can't thank you enough!

D. Fredricks August 4, 2012 5:21 pm (Pacific time)

well... goodbye.

Tim King: I wouldn't count your chickens D., we may be poor in terms of money but people care about us and they care about seeing the  news continue.  At the rate things are going, we just might make it.  Again, you have no idea the support we have.  I have never believed we were not doing this right thing by running Salem-News.com no matter how hard things get.

Jamal Belica August 4, 2012 2:12 pm (Pacific time)

King family,
Thanks for being such beautiful people and you will always have our support. -JB Boss @ AldinEntertainment.com

HAPPY RAMADAN!

Editor: You're so cool Jamal, and we know you do.  Thanks much and happy Ramadan!

Josh Akers August 3, 2012 4:14 pm (Pacific time)

I am very broke right now. It pains me to think that my favorite news site has been in financial difficulty for so long... All I can do Is pray that you will get the money that you need. Tim you are such an awesome person I wish I had a million dollars to give you guys for what you have done.

Tim King: Josh, you support us all the time and you send great leads and I only look at you as part of our group, your words mean a great deal and we are getting help, with luck we will be able to save things, we have a way to go, but we feel the love, thanks so much.
